The open hex bar increases versatility and safety. I can stick my butt out on dips and not have to worry about hitting the back of the bar. The chrome plating seems to be very durable. During shipping the box was pretty well destroyed and the chrome had scratches but no chips. A sign of a great plating job. The bar itself had perfect geometry and handled the abuse of the shipping people very well. The bar itself has a bunch of potential positions. Once using an open trap bar, you'll never want to go back to a closed one. The legs make it great to store in tight spaces and add to your workout. I'll never reach the 700 pound max of the bar. But with 400 pounds on it, it feels super strong. Its build quality makes it right at home at a high end gym. Great Hex (trap) bar.
